Why Choose Apollo’s Lyre Tinctures?

We could water down our tinctures, but we prefer quality over quantity. If a flavor is too strong for you to put directly under your tongue, simply put a dropper-full in a small amount of water or juice to drink.
2. All our mushrooms are organic and we source only organic or wild-crafted herbs.
Many of our mushrooms are organically grown in-house, and all the herbs we use are either organic or wild-crafted.
3. All tinctures are macerated for a minimum of four weeks.
While the marc (mushrooms or herbs) is soaking in the menstruum during the four-week period, the bottles are shaken twice daily to extract the beneficial properties naturally found in the marc.
4. All mushroom tinctures are created using a double extraction process.
The first extraction is with alcohol, which pulls out the triterpenes (found naturally in plants, having anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, and anti-viral compounds) and the second extraction is with hot water, which pulls out the beta-glucans (polysaccharides which support immune health, gut microbiome, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels).

At Apollo’s Lyre, we choose to produce alcohol-based tinctures because:
1) Tinctures have a higher concentration of medicinal compounds than herbal teas and capsules.
2) Alcohol extracts a greater spectrum of plant properties than does water, vinegar, or glycerin.
3) Herbal healing compounds absorb easier into the bloodstream with alcohol-based tinctures.
4) Alcohol-based tinctures have an unlimited shelf life and do not require refrigeration if stored in a cool, dark location.
5) The alcohol content of our mushroom tinctures is 25-30% and 45-50% for our herbal tinctures.
